Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in the Framework of Mass Transportation Development in Bandung, 2021
Description of Project:
The Urban Mobility User Survey collects data related to the Mass Transit system in the Bandung Basin Metropolitan Area (BBMA) to provide insights that can help to promote gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in public transportation
A survey covering 403 respondents from the BBMA addresses demographics, urban mobility behavior, patterns, and aspects of GESI for urban mobility users. The survey prioritizes respondents from among women, young people, low-income levels, and individuals with mobility limitations (elderly, pregnant women, vision disabilities, hearing disabilities, and other physical disabilities).
Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:
REDI was contracted by the World Bank to carry out the preparation, implementation, and reporting of the study. The study employs a quantitative survey of 400 respondents of public transportation users and non-users. The potential respondents were identified through a phone-call listing process employing 20 listers from local partners. The data collection process was carried out through phone-call interviews, deployed 20 phone callers and most of them are local partners. The data collection process satisfied the client as it was completed on time (in a very short duration of assignment: one month for overall activities), and the interviewed respondents fulfilled the required criteria, ranging from elderly, people with disability, female and male, student and college student and worker, user, and non-user of public transportation, and resided in the determined districts in BBMA. As the data was gathered through phone-call interviews, the process was audio recorded for data verification purposes, and the monitoring process was undertaken via joint-call monitoring.
