Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development – Actions in Indonesia: Strengthening the Local Chamber of Commerce in Improving Investment and Trade Environment in Eastern Indonesia through the Establishment of the Centre for Investment and Trade Advisory (CITRA)

CITRA designed work packages 1 to 4 during program implementation, and the following is brief description of each the packages. 

Work package 1 aimed to increase the access to information for trade and investment, the program has already been well established, CITRA website as the main source of information for trade and investment opportunities to any potential partners both local, national, and international. REDI established two websites (www.citracenter.com and www.indonesiabusiness.net during this package implementation.  

Work package 2 aimed in improving business network among local, national, and international businesses. The package consists of the following activities, including visiting international business representatives, conferences on trade and investment opportunities, and press conferences. All targeted beneficiaries were invited to visit international business representatives in Jakarta and held conferences of trade and investment opportunities in each of the respective locations. Each of the conferences were followed by a press conference to disseminate the information about CITRA program to the wider public. 

Work package 3 aimed to build local expertise in analyzing the trade and investment policy. In this package, the CITRA team selected local experts to be trained and they would assist final beneficiaries with some inputs regarding outcomes of CITRA Training program.  

Work package 4 aimed to improve communication between private sectors and local governments. The main activity included holding discussion forums among local governments, representatives of business associations, and local private sectors. The CITRA team acted as the forum initiator.
